Text ads are simple ads that include only information in words. No images are used in text ads. These types of ads are typically sold on websites that are not search engines.

A directory listing is a listing of a business on an authoritative directory such Finditcitywide.com, YP.com, Yellowbook.com, or Citysearch.com.  Or, on a vertical "Industry specific" directory such as Rent.com or Realtors.com or Foodspot.com.  A Directory Listing is usually free and basic with name of business, address and phone number and map.  Basic listings are usually classified as the lowest hierarchy on a directory, but nonetheless are there in an applicable organized category.    Upgrades which affect placement and hierarchy vary from directory to directory, but usually include video, business profiles pages, visit website links and a better placement in a search result.

Display ads are advertisements.  Although there are some standard sizes and standard placement on key websites (for repetitious use), they can come in different sizes.   They are often attention grabbers so that viewers notice the ad over the other ads around it.  These ads can come in a few different forms: static and flash or animation.  Flash ads have multiple transitions in the ad.  Static ads can be effective because they are simple and only take a viewer a few seconds to look at it and get the information that they needed from it.  Animation has a little bit more design options than Flash, but the concept is the same.  A moving, eye catching ad.  Click through statics went down for a while on the web, but now solid call to action promotions are offering a better click through rate.  Display ads are not different than any other media ad, they are designed to catch attention of a buyer, and to provide branding for a business.  We offer design and development of Display Ads for our clients.

Video ads can be used in place of most display ad positions. They can also be used on YouTube, and anywhere a display would be placed.   Video ads can also be used to increase company hierarchy in search results on authoritative or vertical directories.  Video ads always cost more due to the production of a video.  We like interview video ads that give a visitor a personal feeling.

Sponsorship, or button, ads are ads placed on websites that show a websites sponsors. They are typically just a logo of the sponsoring company, and link to the company’s website.  This type of ad can go many places on a website and is primarily used for branding.
